IC 4592: The Blue Horsehead Reflection Nebula

NASA APOD · Mario Cogo
COSMIC MESSAGE

This reflection nebula, IC 4592, forms a blue horsehead shape in the constellation Scorpius. It is not the famous Horsehead in Orion. The blue light is from nearby stars reflecting off fine dust. The dust itself would normally appear dark, but it glows when illuminated by energetic starlight.
