NGC 2359: Thor's Helmet

COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 2359, popularly called Thor's Helmet, is a cosmic cloud about 30 light-years across. It is an interstellar bubble, blown by a fast wind from a bright, massive Wolf-Rayet star at its center. This central star is extremely hot and is thought to be in a brief, pre-supernova stage of evolution.
