COSMIC MESSAGE

How massive can a star be? Pismis 24-1, in the cluster NGC 6357, was once thought to be over 200 times the Sun's mass. Hubble Space Telescope observations revealed it is actually three stars, not one. They are still among the most massive stars known, shining brightly above the gas front.
