North American Nightscape

This night scene shows the Lions, two mountain peaks north of Vancouver, British Columbia. Light from the Moon illuminated the snowy foreground on January 21. Above the twin summits, to the left of Deneb, are the emission regions NGC 7000 and IC 5070. These regions are part of a large star-forming complex about 1,500 light-years from Earth, shining with characteristic red light.
