“The Central Milky Way from Lagoon to Pipe” is copyrighted by Gabriel Rodrigues Santos. NASA has permission to show it and we don't, so it isn't on this card.
See it on NASA's siteThis stellar landscape spans more than 30 full moons across crowded star fields toward the center of our Milky Way. The obscuring interstellar dust clouds seen toward the right include B59, B72, B77, and B78. These are part of the Ophiuchus molecular cloud complex, about 450 light-years away. Their combined shape suggests a pipe stem and bowl.
The Sun on 1 October 2021
NASA SDO took this picture on 1 October 2021, the day itself, not a release date.
We cannot put this date's photograph on paper at poster size. We can print the nearest public archive plate to your date instead.
Prints are coming soon. The card is free to save and share in the meantime.
