The Bat Nebula, NGC 6995, is part of the larger Veil Nebula, a remnant of a star that exploded thousands of years ago. This region in Cygnus spans about half a degree, or twelve light-years. The expanding cloud of gas and dust glows, showing the intricate structures left behind by the supernova.
