“A Rorschach Aurora” is copyrighted by Göran Strand. NASA has permission to show it and we don't, so it isn't on this card.
See it on NASA's siteThis image shows an aurora borealis, digitally mirrored to create a symmetrical pattern. Auroras are caused by charged particles from the Sun interacting with Earth's magnetic field and atmosphere. These interactions excite atmospheric gases, causing them to emit light. This particular aurora was captured in Jamtland, Sweden, during a geomagnetic storm.
The Sun on 30 October 2021
NASA SDO took this picture on 30 October 2021, the day itself, not a release date.
We cannot put this date's photograph on paper at poster size. We can print the nearest public archive plate to your date instead.
Prints are coming soon. The card is free to save and share in the meantime.
