COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 3521 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo, 35 million light-years away. It is easily visible with small telescopes, but often overlooked in favor of other galaxies in the region. This colorful image shows its characteristic patchy, irregular spiral arms, laced with dust and pink star-forming regions. The galaxy spans about 50,000 light-years.
