The uncrewed Orion spacecraft captured this view of the Moon's Oceanus Procellarum, or Ocean of Storms, on December 5. This dark, smooth terrain is the largest of the Moon's lava-flooded maria, formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. The image was taken as Orion approached its return flyby of the Moon.
