Jodrell Bank in England is home to the Lovell Telescope, one of the world's largest radio telescopes. Completed in 1957, its 250-foot diameter dish was the largest steerable radio telescope. It has been used to monitor faint radio emissions from space, including transmissions from distant Pioneer spacecraft.
