NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This dramatic image of the Moon's edge against distant stars was captured by a star tracker camera on the Clementine spacecraft. The Sun's outer atmosphere, the Solar Corona, shines brightly behind the lunar limb. The Moon's surface is illuminated by Earthshine, sunlight reflected from Earth. The shadowed part of the Moon shown is its farside.
