Eclipsed Moon in Infrared
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Last September's total lunar eclipse was viewed from Earth orbit by the Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX) satellite. Its SPIRIT III infrared telescope repeatedly imaged the Moon during the eclipse. This image was taken during the 70-minute totality, with the Moon fully immersed in Earth's shadow. Infrared light has wavelengths longer than visible light, revealing details not seen by the human eye.
