This panorama of the Moon was created from images sent back by the US Surveyor 6 lander. In November 1967, Surveyor 6 became the first spacecraft to land on the Moon and then lift off again. NASA controllers commanded it to fire its rocket engine, lifting it four meters off the surface and moving it 2.5 meters.
