A Triple Eclipse on Jupiter
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Three dark spots are visible on Jupiter in this image, which are actually shadows. The shadows belong to three of Jupiter's moons, Io, Callisto, and Ganymede, as they aligned between Jupiter and the Sun in November. In 1675, Ole Rømer used the timing of Jupiter's moon eclipses to measure the speed of light.
