N81: Star Cradle in the SMC
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Small Magellanic Cloud is a dwarf galaxy about 200,000 light-years away. Within it, the Hubble Space Telescope captured N81, a nebula where massive stars are forming. This star cradle is only 12 light-years across, much smaller than other nebulae that host star clusters. The image shows the newborn stars emerging from their natal cloud.
