Simulated Galaxy Cluster View
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This computer-simulated view shows a distant cluster of galaxies, dominated by a large elliptical galaxy at its center. Numerous other galaxies are members of this hypothetical cluster. Far behind the cluster, other galaxies appear as concentric arcs, lensed by the cluster's enormous gravitational field. This effect is caused by the cluster's dark matter, which bends the light from background objects.
