The Crab that Played with the Planet

COSMIC MESSAGE

Last month, Saturn made its closest approach to Earth, showing its rings to skygazers. On January 4th and 5th, Saturn passed in front of the Crab Nebula, M1. The Crab Nebula is debris from a stellar explosion, and the first object on Charles Messier's list. Light from the bright planet overwhelmed the nebula during this alignment.
