NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This dark region is Barnard 68, a molecular cloud in the constellation Ophiuchus. What appears to be a hole in the sky is actually a dense concentration of dust and molecular gas. This cloud absorbs nearly all visible light from background stars, making its interior one of the coldest and most isolated places in the universe.
