NASA APOD · Jean-Charles Cuillandre
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Eagle Nebula is famous for its dark pillars, where bright blue stars are still forming. This image, taken by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, shows the dramatic process of star formation. The heart of the open cluster M16 lies to the upper right of the nebula. Light takes about 7,000 years to reach us from this region.
