Hubble's Jupiter and the Shrinking Great Red Spot

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Jupiter, the solar system's largest planet, is home to the Great Red Spot, one of the largest and longest-lasting storm systems known. This storm, visible to the left, is large enough to swallow Earth. However, the Great Red Spot has been shrinking, spanning only about one-third of the area it covered 150 years ago. NASA's Outer Planets Program captured this view of Jupiter and its iconic storm.
