M64: The Sleeping Beauty Galaxy

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sleeping Beauty galaxy, M64, appears peaceful, but its outer gas rotates in the opposite direction from its stars. Collisions between the inner and outer gas regions create many hot blue stars and pink emission nebulae. The Hubble Space Telescope captured this image in 2001.
