NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Mars Opportunity rover photographed several unusual, nearly spherical nodules on Mars. These spherules are often embedded in larger rock outcroppings and appear grayer than their surroundings. The image shows one such spherule embedded in a rock dubbed Stone Mountain, which Opportunity examined closely.
