X-Rays From Tycho's Supernova Remnant

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

In 1572, Tycho Brahe watched a new star appear in Cassiopeia. It faded after months, but the expanding debris cloud, Tycho's Supernova Remnant, still glows. This Chandra X-ray Observatory image shows the highest energy X-rays in blue, revealing the ongoing aftermath of that stellar explosion thousands of light-years away.
