COSMIC MESSAGE
Asteroid Toutatis made its closest approach to Earth in 2004, coming within a million miles. That is about four times the distance to the Moon. From the asteroid, Earth would have appeared almost as large as the full Moon. From Earth, Toutatis was a faint, fast-moving object, visible with a good telescope.
