The Delta IV Heavy, seen here launching, is the largest rocket ever flown by the US Air Force. It can lift over 23,000 kilograms into low Earth orbit. This first test launch, though largely successful, had its boosters shut off a few seconds early. The Boeing-built Delta IV Heavy uses three rocket boosters for its powerful lift.
