Persistent Saturnian Auroras

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

To study Saturn's auroras, the Hubble Space Telescope and the Cassini spacecraft observed the planet's South Pole simultaneously in January 2004. Hubble captured images in ultraviolet light, while Cassini recorded radio emissions and monitored the solar wind. Like Earth's auroras, Saturn's form rings around its magnetic poles. However, Saturn's auroras are persistent, lasting for days, unlike the brief displays on Earth.
