The Veil Nebula Unveiled
NASA APOD · Mikael Svalgaard
COSMIC MESSAGE
These wisps of gas are what remain of a Milky Way star that exploded in a supernova. The Veil Nebula, pictured here, is the remnant of that explosion. Thousands of years ago, the expanding cloud was likely as bright as a crescent Moon. The supernova remnant lies about 1400 light-years away in Cygnus.
