In the Carina Nebula, massive, newly formed stars are winning a battle against the dusty stellar nurseries where they were born. Their energetic light and winds are evaporating and dispersing these dust pillars. Within a region informally known as Mystic Mountain, these pillars appear dominated by opaque brown dust, even though they are mostly clear hydrogen gas.
