Fountains Discovered on Saturn's Enceladus

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Fountains of ice shoot out from Saturn's moon Enceladus. The Cassini spacecraft, orbiting Saturn, captured these images by looking back toward the Sun, with Enceladus appearing as a thin crescent. From this vantage point, particles emitted from the surface reflect sunlight, making the plumes visible. This frame shows several plumes emanating from the moon's south pole.
