Dust and Light in the Rosette Nebula

NASA APOD · Nicolas Outters (Observatoire d'Orange)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Rosette Nebula, also known as NGC 2244, contains cosmic dust sculptures. These dark globules of dust and gas are slowly being eroded by the energetic light and winds from nearby massive stars. If left undisturbed, these molecular cloud globules would likely form new stars and planets. The Rosette Nebula spans about 50 light-years and is home to these ongoing processes.
