NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Massive, hot stars in the Rosette Nebula have cleared out the gas and dust at its center. This Spitzer Space Telescope infrared image shows the cleared cavity, spanning about 45 light-years. These powerful stars pose a danger to planet-forming disks around younger, cooler stars nearby. The Rosette Nebula is 5,200 light-years from Earth.
