Jupiter's Rings Revealed
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Jupiter's faint rings, discovered by Voyager 1, are made of dust from meteoroid impacts on its small inner moons. This image, taken by the Galileo spacecraft, shows the rings silhouetted during a solar eclipse by Jupiter. When meteoroids strike moons like Adrastea, they kick up dust that then goes into orbit around the gas giant.
