Active Galaxy NGC 1275

Active galaxy NGC 1275 is at the center of the Perseus Cluster of Galaxies. It is a strong source of X-rays and radio emission. This Hubble Space Telescope image shows galactic debris and glowing gas filaments, some 20,000 light-years long. NGC 1275 grows by absorbing entire galaxies, which feed a supermassive black hole at its core.
