Elusive Jellyfish Nebula

NASA APOD · Gerhard Bachmayer
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Jellyfish Nebula, IC 443, is a supernova remnant in Gemini, flanked by the stars Mu and Eta Geminorum. This wide-field view captures its faint, arcing ridge and dangling tentacles. It is the expanding cloud from a massive star that exploded, with light from the explosion first reaching Earth about 8,000 years ago.
