M7: Open Star Cluster in Scorpius

COSMIC MESSAGE

M7 is a prominent open star cluster in the tail of Scorpius, visible to the naked eye in a dark sky. It contains about 100 stars, mostly bright blue, and is around 200 million years old. The cluster spans 25 light-years across and lies about 1,000 light-years away. This deep exposure was taken over several nights from Australia.
