NASA APOD · Immo Gerber
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 660, located over 20 million light-years away in Pisces, is a polar ring galaxy. This rare galaxy type has stars, gas, and dust orbiting in rings nearly perpendicular to its flat galactic disk. This unusual configuration might have formed when NGC 660 captured material from a passing galaxy.
