COSMIC MESSAGE
Gamma Cassiopeiae shines as the brightest star in this rich field. It marks the center of the W-shaped constellation Cassiopeia. This hot, rapidly rotating star, about 600 light-years distant, ionizes surrounding interstellar material, creating the wispy IC 63 and IC 59 nebulae visible in the image.
