A Spherule from the Earth's Moon

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This glass spherule, only a quarter of a millimeter across, was found in lunar soil samples returned by the Apollo missions. When a meteorite strikes the Moon, the impact energy melts some of the rock, which can cool into tiny glass beads. This particular spherule is interesting because it has been hit by an even smaller impact, leaving a miniature crater.
