Dust Storm on Mars

NASA APOD · Jean-Luc Dauvergne
COSMIC MESSAGE

Spring in Mars's northern hemisphere often brings dust storms. This image of Mars, taken during its close approach to Earth in 2010, shows a dramatic brown swath of dust across the otherwise white north polar cap. The evolving dust storm extends from the dark region known as Mare Acidalium, below the polar cap.
