Mars Opposition 2010
NASA APOD · Alan Friedman
COSMIC MESSAGE
Mars is at opposition, opposite the Sun in our sky. This means it is easy to spot near the Full Moon, also opposite the Sun. This sharp view of Mars was recorded by a telescope on January 22nd, showing the planet just over 99 million kilometers away. It is not a particularly close approach, but still offers a good view of the Red Planet.
