NASA APOD · Astro Anarchy
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula, is a cosmic bubble about 25 light-years across. It was blown by winds from its central, massive star, a Wolf-Rayet star known as WR 136. This star is shedding its outer envelope in a strong stellar wind, ejecting material into space. The colorful portrait uses narrow-band image data, showing emission from sulfur, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms in red, green, and blue hues.
