COSMIC MESSAGE

Star cluster NGC 602, only 5 million years young, lies near the outskirts of the Small Magellanic Cloud. It is surrounded by natal gas and dust, as seen in this Hubble image. Energetic radiation and shock waves from NGC 602's massive young stars have eroded the dusty material. This has triggered a progression of star formation moving away from the cluster's center.
