COSMIC MESSAGE

Messier 109 is a beautiful barred spiral galaxy in Ursa Major, just below the Big Dipper's bowl. Its prominent central bar gives it the appearance of the Greek letter theta. This galaxy is about 84 million light-years away and spans roughly 120,000 light-years across.
