Milky Way Over Spain's Bardenas Reales

NASA APOD · Maria Rosa Vila
COSMIC MESSAGE

Our Milky Way Galaxy stretches across the top of this image, a faint band representing our view of its central disk. Below it stands Castildetierra, a striking 50-meter-tall rock formation in Bardenas Reales, a natural badlands in northeast Spain. The Milky Way is a common sight in dark skies, but this unique geological feature beneath it creates a less common, dramatic landscape.
