NGC 7293: The Helix Nebula

Seven hundred light years away in Aquarius, a sun-like star is dying, forming the Helix Nebula, NGC 7293. This planetary nebula, captured with 28.5 hours of exposure, glows with hydrogen in red and oxygen in blue-green. It is a well-studied example of a star's final phase.
