COSMIC MESSAGE
The Eagle Nebula, also known as Messier 16, is a region of active star formation. This image shows the famous "Pillars of Creation," towering structures of cold gas and dust. New stars are being born within these pillars, protected from the harsh radiation of nearby massive stars. The nebula is about 7,000 light-years away in the constellation Serpens.
