COSMIC MESSAGE
One of the largest sunspot groups in recent years, Active Region 2192, is currently crossing the Sun. It has already produced a powerful solar flare and has the potential for more. This time-lapse sequence shows the Sun in visible and ultraviolet light, with AR 2192 rotating in from the left. This active region, which rivals Jupiter in size, is crackling with magnetic energy.
