Welcome to a Comet

The Philae lander, after a long journey on the Rosetta mission, has touched down on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This image, taken from the lander itself, shows one of its feet on the comet's surface. Philae bounced twice before settling, traveling about a kilometer from its initial target site. The lander is now tilted, with its solar panels getting less light than planned, but it is still sending back data.
