M100 is a spiral galaxy, similar to our own Milky Way, with over 100 billion stars. It is one of the brightest members of the Virgo Cluster, about 56 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. This Hubble Space Telescope image, taken in 2009, shows bright blue star clusters within its well-defined arms.
