Comet PanSTARRS, also known as C/2014 Q1, was discovered in August 2014. It swept quickly across the sky, seen here from Mackay, Queensland, Australia, on July 17. The comet shows colorful tails, spanning just over one degree in the field of view. It was closest to Earth around this time.
